At the same time, synthetic fabrics can be defined as artificial substances that humanity’s innovation can manufacture through different procedures.
With that being said, rayon falls in the middle of these two, making them a semi-synthetic material. Many also like to term them as synthetic, but that is not entirely right. But, you won’t see any two recognize them as natural fabrics despite their emergence from a plant source.
The fact here is that rayons are extracted from plant sources, but their primary origin is from the regenerated cellulose of plants, woods, bark, etc.

Rayon is a semi-synthetic compound fabric whose name alerts us about the probability of its burning. Burning or catching flame is the most common phenomenon that can ever occur in this world. Not the world, but the whole universe is bound to obey this rule as the primary source of energy is from heat, and heat causes burning and catching fire.

Which fabric is most flammable?
Flammability will always depend on the rate of flashpoints, as told before. Thus, the simple rule of thumb, the lower the ignition point, the higher the flammability, and vice-versa.
And considering that, a list has already been made on the type of fabrics for flammability considering their respective flashpoints.
Flashpoint is mostly lower in all the natural fabrics that do not contain any mixture of synthetic compounds. This is because the raw materials come from the woods, and the woods are favorable to burn.
The lowest flashpoint is considered when the temperature of the same remains lower than 100° Fahrenheit. This means that any material with such flashpoint will burn once it crosses 100° Fahrenheit of temperature.
Luckily, such levels of flashpoint do not exist for any of the fabrics used for the manufacturing of clothes. But, still, the materials coming from natural sources are flammable enough as their flashpoint is also not high enough to prevent even regular firings.
With that being said, amongst the natural fabric, the most explosive kind of fabric with a significantly lower level of flashpoint like 298° Fahrenheit is silk. Which is to say, silk will burn once it crosses 148° Celsius of temperature.
The second most flammable fabric is cotton which burns at 410° Fahrenheit or 210° Celsius. Such a level of flashpoint is also considered explosive because fire quickly reaches that temperature once it starts.
Not being a natural fabric, rayon is still flammable, but the rate of flammability is way lower than silk. The flammability of rayon is somewhere near the cotton but still burns slower than it. Which is, rayon ignites at 482° Fahrenheit which will take a while for it to catch on fire after the cotton has done so.
